MEMBERSHIP
The Lumsden Club has spent over 20 years dedicated to supporting women, children and the arts, both locally in Fife and abroad. We are a diverse group of women, with over 22 nationalities present in the club, from Chilean to British to Hungarian, and studying a variety of subjects and interests. In 2022-2023, 21.1% of current Lumsden members identify as BAME and 77.9% are international students, compared to the student body of the University of St Andrews is 15.8% BAME (Times 2023). The Lumsden Club is more diverse than the university we operate within and we want to continue to diversify our membership by encouraging women from all backgrounds to apply during recruitment season.

Our club is entirely made up of students who identify as women. We value this greatly as our charity work is specifically centered around women and children’s causes. It is important for us, as women, to fight for women. To be surrounded by like-minded, dedicated women, driven to tackle gender issues in any capacity, is at the core of Lumsden and this is why our membership is 100% female.

Only first year students who identify as female can apply to the club, with recruitment season starting in early October every year. Recruitment for 2024 starts on Oct 7th with our recruitment drinks - our mailing list will ensure an invite.
